It is my great pleasure to address you on this special day of the celebration of the
international Day of the African Child. This year’s celebration is themed “Access
to a Child-Friendly Justice System in Africa”
With the current situation of rape, child trafficking, child labour, almajiri and
other vices that subject the child to various ill treatments in our community, this
theme will enlighten us on the need to ensure that the African Child is well
nurtured and protected.
Note that the child is the future of any nation, or race and needs to be brought
up as embodiments of the culture, norms, values and heritages of such nations or
race. We must not allow the challenges of the present make us neglect the need
to ensure the well being of the African child. Together, we must be committed to
helping our children grow and have their freedom so that they can fulfill their
potentials in life.
